Skydiving isn’t just an adventure; it’s a life-changing experience that draws thrill-seekers from all different walks of life. The rush of adrenaline, the awe-inspiring views, and the feeling of conquering a major feat all make skydiving a truly transformative and memorable moment.
Some people are super ready to take the leap, but maybe not so ready to part with the funds to make it happen. We get it – skydiving isn’t cheap. (And that’s for good reason, by the way!) So, how expensive is skydiving, and is it worth the money? Let’s break down the ins and outs of skydiving costs – especially around here in Oklahoma – from tandem jumps to solo skydives, and everything in between!
Skydiving costs vary significantly on where you jump, the altitude you jump from, and the additional services offered during your skydiving experience. On average, a tandem skydive from an altitude of 10,000 to 14,000 feet costs between $200 and $300 per jump.
While some people may think the price is high, the reality is that there is a lot that goes into one skydive beyond the glorious freefall, canopy flight, and parachute landing we’re all after. And some dropzones offer add-ons such as photo/video packages to elevate your skydiving experience.
At a reputable dropzone, the tandem skydiving cost will factor in the use of specialized gear, equipment, and aircraft – all of which requires regular inspection and meticulous maintenance – as well as the skill and expertise of certified instructors, pilots, videographers, and ground crew. Oh, and fuel, of course.
Oklahoma offers some of the most competitive skydiving rates in the country, providing you with high-quality experiences at accessible prices.
Skydiving prices in Oklahoma are in line with the average, with some variation depending on the dropzone you choose and the experience you’re looking for. When it comes to skydiving, you definitely get what you pay for – be sure to do your research before booking your skydive. Look for quality, industry experience, and a stated focus on safety, and absolutely check reviews.
At Oklahoma Skydiving Center, we value all of these critical factors, which is why we engage only skydiving instructors who are certified through the United States Parachute Association (USPA). This means they are required to uphold the highest safety standards, undergoing rigorous training and continuing education.
We have an impressive fleet of three beautiful, well-maintained airplanes that are capable of taking you higher than any other dropzone in the state! We offer two altitude options, 14,000 feet and 18,000 feet! In fact, we’re one of only a few skydiving centers in the country that offers tandem skydiving from 18K!
More importantly, safety is our number one priority. We are steadfast in our commitment to providing an as-safe-as-possible and fun experience for all of our jumpers. We pride ourselves on being a family-oriented operation which is evident as soon as you step foot on the dropzone – we go the extra mile to ensure you are comfortable and confident, ready to take on the greatest adventure of your life!
Here is a general comparison of tandem skydiving prices at popular dropzones in the Sooner State:
Dropzone | Cost | Altitude | Location |
Oklahoma Skydiving Center | $240 or $420 | 14,000 ft or 18,000 ft | Cushing, OK |
Skydive Airtight | $240 | 11,000 ft | Tulsa, OK |
Skydive Cherokee | $230 | 10,000 – 12,000 ft | Muskogee, OK |
For first-time jumpers, tandem skydiving is the go-to choice, as it requires very minimal training. With tandem skydiving, you are securely harnessed to a certified tandem instructor who will guide the entire experience and operate all of the equipment. For the tandem skydiving option, we offer group discounts, special rates, seasonal deals, and upgrades.
Solo skydiving requires significant training which requires an investment of time and resources. Not all dropzones offer a learn to skydive program, so you’ll have to do a bit of research to find the one that’s best for you. At Oklahoma Skydiving Center, we offer an innovative Accelerated Freefall (AFF) course that features practical exercises, lecture, videos, and eight instructor-supported jumps. All told, our AFF course costs just under $2,000.
After you’ve successfully completed your AFF training, you can work toward earning your USPA “A” License and continue your progression to become an experienced skydiver.
For those who have experienced it, the answer is a resounding YES, skydiving is absolutely worth the money! Skydiving is more than an adventure; it’s a personal milestone and source of spiritual awakening if you will that provides you with unforgettable memories and life lessons – some say it’s therapeutic! The initial jump, the rush of freefall, and the peace of the parachute ride create a uniquely powerful experience that is difficult to explain with words.
The thrill of stepping out of a perfectly good airplane, thousands of feet above the ground isn’t something that can be easily compared to any other activity, and it often leaves people with a renewed sense of confidence, clarity, and empowerment.
Not to mention, Oklahoma’s vast landscapes offer breathtaking views, with a mix of rolling hills, shimmering lakes, and wide-open plains that look spectacular from your unobstructed gaze from above. For many, the chance to see Oklahoma from the sky alone justifies the expense – it’s truly a sight to see!
